Governing Texas

+ Lettering
+ Illustration
+ Cover & Spine Design

For the eighth edition of Governing Texas, I was hired to design, illustrate, and letter the book cover and spine. “Governing Texas is the most contemporary, comprehensive text for Texas politics courses. It includes more up-to-date information and a more engaging design and presentation than any other text. It’s the best-selling text for this course.”

The design and illustration request was to visually show key elements and concepts of Texas politics and government, including: the Texas State Capitol building, the oil industry, a recognizable urban skyline or setting, people participating in politics (protesting and/or voting), the Texas state flag, as well as the 2024 election results. Additionally, avoid any Texas clichés or stereotypes like cows, cowboy hats, guns, etc., and do not show anything negative about Texas or its government.
